The prompt for this week's 100 Word Challenge is:
...you bought her what...
My friend DancingInTheRain has written a powerful piece. Pop over to Julia's for more entries. (I didn't write anything myself this week as I'm sick and a bit burnt out - details here.)
What She Really Needs
His son stared at him, "You bought her WHAT?".
"I bought your mother time", he repeated.
"But why?", countered his son. "We agreed that the best thing for her would be to go back to work. She's a workaholic - once behind her desk she'll soon be back to her own self. She'll forget she ever had cancer and everything will finally be back to normal. And now you've gone and persuaded them to give her three months convalescence?!!"
"I know", he replied "but I realised that we should listen to her needs for once. And what she needs is time to simply enjoy being alive."
