R2BC - In Limbo

I  was playing with a photo editing app.
This one seems to reflect how I feel atm.
It's not good and it's not bad. Sort of in limbo.
I'm writing my Reasons 2B Cheerful this week with somewhat of a heavy heart due to the way the long overdue and necessary fight against racism is playing out in the UK. This is not the post to explain - perhaps tomorrow if I dare. Today is R2BC day so here are mine.

The linky is with Becky on Lakes Single Mum and recommended for anyone else who needs cheering this up weekend.

1 Life of Brian
I made DD watch Life of Brian with me. She didn't fancy it but within five minutes she was screaming with laughter.

2 Big School
We signed up with DD's new school for September. It's actually called Middle School here but is akin to the American Junior High. We gave all the necessary information, chose Spanish as a third language (Hebrew is first, English second), and wrote the name of a friend she'd like to be in the same class with.

Now I sit back and wait for the list of things to buy, the bill for school extras, and the days and dates of meetings for each of us. I'm assuming that school will be back to normal by September but who knows?

3 Semi-isolation
I went back to my school on Thursday. It's extremely difficult with all the changes and physical restrictions and I'm also nervous about the virus. However, I want my salary so I went back. It's only another four weeks.

DD's school has been thoroughly disinfected after the whole school ended up in quarantine. Different year groups are going back on different days and learning in capsules (bubbles in the UK). DD gets to go to school on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The other three days they'll return to distance learning.

Semi- isolation is better than full isolation I suppose. I'm still nervous.

4 The Virus' Demise
I heard a doctor on British TV who has studied all the evidence of past pandemics. He firmly believes that Covid-19 will burn itself out and just disappear. He says keep working towards a vaccine as this virus may yet come back for a second wave, or the burnout may take longer than the race for an effective vaccine. However, there were no vaccines in the distant past and every pandemic in history has burnt out and disappeared as suddenly as it came. You could look at this as a R2BC or you could retort with, "at what cost?" - you choose for yourself. I was encouraged.

  1. I believe "Life of Brian" is what inspired "Spamalot" isn't it? One of the funniest plays I've every seen so I understand DD's laughter. The gift shop had a pair of "Killer Bunny" slippers and I was really tempted! :-)
I really hope that this virus does burn itself out eventually - but I do think that we are going to have to get through a second wave first. I think it will be a rough winter.
Good luck to both of you in the return to school.

    1. Thanks Margie. I don't know Spamalot, I'll have to look it up. Have a good week. .xxx

  2. I love Life of Brian! This semi limbo state is a bit odd my son won't be back at school at all until September... Let's hope we can defeat this virus one way or another

    1. DD went back today - her class are split into two and she's in the library apparently, but happy because her best friends are in the same capsule (bubble). I went back too - it's a nightmare.

  3. I seriously hope it does just burn itself out, that woudld be amazing. I'm hoping my girls can go back to school, at least part-time, if nothing else in Septemer. They really need that teacher interaction. I hope the week is going well. Mich x

    1. I'm in denial about schools possibly not going back in September. We have also had murmurs about some online schooling and fewer days actually in school. But for the little ones this doesn't help when parents have to go to work.

  4. I love Life Of Brian, I watch it at least once a year.

The lockdown is slowly beginning to ease here in Wales, but I'm still a bit nervous too. I'm trying to be patient for things to return to some sort of normality, so I can move to Scotland, but my partner and I know that it's just a matter of time and we'll get there in the end.

I'm so glad that my DS isn't school age and so we don't have to worry about all the going back to school stress that all my friends with school age children seem to be going through.

    1. Our school set up is changing every week. They only went back for two days this week but are going back for 5 days and full classes next week. I can't keep up. Good luck with the move to Scotland.
