Two Photos 79 Years Apart

At the end of the first day at school DD's teacher sent an email with some photos of the children. This one has DD sitting at the front, bottom left.

Maybe it's the angle of her head, maybe it's the pose or the family resemblance, but it immediately reminded me of this photo of my Dad's first year in school in the East End of London, 1935 (possibly 1936).

Dad's in the second row of desks on the right (front right of photo). Can you see it or is it just me?

    1. I couldn't believe it when I first saw the photo - they don't look so similar actually, it just the overall effect. And yes it is very sweet.

  2. Clear resemblance between the two of them. DD looks happier than she did in previous back to school photo's - I hope that's the case.

    1. Yes she looks much happier. I put the unhappy face down to not being a morning person earlier but I think there was probably quite a bit of anxiety involved too.

  4. Oh wow, that photo of your dad is so cool. What a great photo to have, especially given that photography would have been quite rare back then. Priceless

  5. It's wonderful to see gestures, facial features and expressions in your children that remind you of your parents. I remember when Jacob was about 2 he started to walk around with his hands clasped behind his back. My father used to do exactly the same thing. Jacob never knew my Dad ,but certain resemblances are clear to see.
