Dear So And So...

For the first time I'm linking up with Kat at 3 Bedroom Bungalow to let in Crazy Town for the Dear So and So. I love her letters to all and sundry on a weekly basis and this week I found I have something (or somethings) to say.

Dear Doom-Merchant,
Not every mother and daughter go through hell during the teenage years. Just because DD is a girl with a strong character it does not mean we are heading for melt-down within the next 10-12 years. And even if we are, is it really necessary to warn me of it gleefully every time we meet? I'm sorry if your experience with your teenager was less than pleasant. I think there's usually a reason behind adolescent turmoil over and above the sensitive hormonal changes. It would be far more useful to look for the causes and try to alleviate them a bit.
I realize that now DD has smoothly and successfully graduated into her own bed, your previous prediction that I'd never get her out of my bed is hitting you hard. However, you could just try to look on the joyful side of motherhood and celebrate our happiness.
Just a thought.

Mother And Daughter Doing Just Fine Thank You

Dear Laid Back Picture Framer,
When you have had my picture for over five months I really don't think you are in a position to lecture me about not leaving my name when I phone to speak to you and get the answering service.

Dear Queue Jumper,
When you momentarily visit the queue to tell me, "I'm after you, OK?" And then go off to finish your shopping, it's not OK. I also have other stuff I could be doing instead of standing in the queue for half an hour. Unless you want to pay me for keeping your place, when you return I shall be pretending I don't speak Hebrew and I don't think I've ever seen you before.

Dear Reader,
I've had a lot of fun getting this lot off my chest. Please pop over to Kat's  to see the other entries on the linky.

I Know I'm Not Perfect But I Try Not To Be Obnoxious

Dear Kat,
Thanks for this.
Yours,
Rachel

  1. I waited in line in the street outside a Government Office last week. So many people came over to me saying "ani acharecha", as if I could care less. Most interesting to observe was the guy who covered his backside with a quick "ani acharecha" and then surreptitiously sidled up to the security barrier pretending to the guard that his wife was already inside, he thereby skipped the entire twenty minute queue.

After the sixth person told me "ani acharecha" I remarked to everyone and no-one in particular "they are all so keen to be after me but can't be arsed to actually stand in line !!!". Unfortunately, I think I was the only one to see the amusing side of it !!!

Can someone please come up with a suitably sarcastic response to "ani acharecha" which I can use in future? I like Rachel's approach, which is certainly a good start.

    1. Thanks for commenting Mikey. For readers who don't know - "ani acharecha" means "I'm after you". You probably guessed, right? Actually I like your idea of leaving the queue and sitting at the side until they come back. The you can just say that you got fed up standing in line. And no you can't remember where you were in the queue. Hmmm - one day I'm going to try that when I've got some time for a laugh.

  2. Oh, this must have felt SO good to get off your chest!! I do the queue thing the odd time..but only because I've forgotten 1 or 2 items.

    1. Frogetting one or two items and running to get them is fine - I do it all the time. Leaving an empty trolley and going to do your shopping is not. And yes thank you, it felt good :).

  3. Hmm I don't mind the queue thing if they are going to get a couple of forgotten things and leave a basket or trolley to mark their place. Oh and I only had about six slightly dodgy months with my teenage daughter, and apart from that she was pretty lovely :)

    1. Your Angel sounds lovely. I'd love DD to grow up and be like Angel. I always think of your shopping trips that you've written about. I can't wait for days like that.
